Well, it’s 40 degrees today, so I’ve been a hermit in my loungeroom, as my study (now doubling as a sewing room) isn’t airconditioned. I decided to try on the second mockup of my soon-to-be 1886 overbust. All I had to do was take a few inches off the front bust panels, and I was good to go!
So I grabbed all my fabrics (lining, coutil, brocade), pins and scissors and I was ready to go. I powered through and got a fair bit of the sewing done before lunch (I also started putting the zipper in the bombshell dress – finally!), then I pinned the flat felled seams down while I finished watching a DVD.
I wasn’t happy with the width of the flat felled seams, so I made them smaller half way through, then went back and unpicked them. I got restless with that quickly, so I finished the zipper in the bombshell dress. Again, I wasn’t happy with it. Instead of attaching it to the lining, then to the pinstripe (like I did this time), I’m going to try it in reverse order when I redo it, but I don’t think that’ll be until the morning. Tonight, I’m gonna finish unpicking the seams on the corset, and start re-doing them.
For now, though, it’s dinner time!
